How Do I Learn?
GetYourITstart is LIVE and INTERACTIVE. Once you schedule the time for your lesson you receive an e-mail link. Click the link and you are instantly connected to your instructor. You see your instructor’s computer screen with your prepared lesson. You hear and speak to your instructor during the lesson with your headset and microphone.
Take this class in the comfort and privacy of your home, or favorite spot. You choose the location for your hands-on learning experience. You get all the personal help you need to be successful in your IT start.
Advance at your own pace. Go slow or speed up. It’s your choice. You get a learning guide for each on-line computer course outlining your goals and objectives. Your personal educator is available by phone and e-mail for all your questions. You upload and download information from the website. This training is designed with the flexibility you need to be successful in your IT start.
Nationwide Access
You can take your classes anywhere you have a computer. This training is internet based, Live and interactive. It doesn’t matter if you are in Florida, Maine, California or Virginia. Train anywhere in the United States (the world actually but the time zones are a real pain). If you travel, take your laptop and get your lesson on the road.
Personal Educator
GetYourITstart is dedicated to offering you individualized learning with a personal educator. Your personal educator is with you throughout all the phases of your computer training classes. Your personal educator works at your pace and encourages you. Technical terms are explained in a way you can put to use quickly. You will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of material that you can go through using this method. Your IT lessons will be informative and useful.
What Software Do I Need?
Office 2007 is the latest version released by Microsoft. However, Office 2003 is still used by a lot of individuals and businesses. I teach both. The software to learn how to build a webpage is FREE and provided to you.
What Equipment Do I Need?
- A computer with a monitor.
- An Internet connection. Sorry, dialup does not work well.
- A headset with a microphone and a USB connector (this works best)
(I recommend the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headset under $25.00)
- You can use your *cell phone or land line for your audio.
* Remember you will be on the phone for over an hour each lesson, so unless you have a plan with unlimited minutes, I would use the headset and save on cell phone time.
Not Sure?
IT beginners start with Excel. It’s a good way to learn the basics skills needed to manage information. The advance level is available when you demonstrate skills at the Beginning and Intermediate levels.
For my group or organization
Groups and organizations benefit from volume discounts. Up to fifteen people can take a lesson online at any one time. Many people find it more fun to learn with a group of like-minded individuals by taking online computer classes. You can share solutions and questions during the class. Groups and organizations can also request training specific to their desired IT start. Come up with a list of things you want to learn, whether just a catch-up class or one with a specific topic.
Day, Evening and Weekend IT Courses are available.
The classroom setting option is available in certain areas.
Two Hour Refresher
You are experienced. You don’t want to go through a learning series. You just have some areas that need touch up. A review with your personal educator will help make the most of your two hour session. You can use your two hours all at once or break it up into two one hour sessions.
You can include multiple topics such as Database, Spreadsheet, etc. You may cancel prior to the start of your session; however no refund is available after your start. Freshen up, take your on line computer training
When are Classes Available?
All classes are available Monday through Friday from 9: 00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Saturday class can be requested. Classes are normally one hour and thirty minutes long. Take your training course online.
Frequency
Take classes two times a week to start. Be sure to leave some time for homework or practice between classes. You might want to move faster as you get more comfortable. You can always scale back. A class can last longer than the prescribed time but it is not recommended to go beyond an hour and fifteen minutes at a time. With computer based training screen fatigue can start to slow you down. Remember, most classes are on-line and you can only spend so much time in front of a computer before you start to get tired.
How Much Does It Cost?
Classes are purchased in learning blocks of four sessions and each lasts one hour and fifteen minutes. One learning block costs $290. There are two class levels, Beginner and Intermediate. The Beginner classes are planned for twelve hours and give you the foundation necessary to move forward. Intermediate classes take from eight to ten hours.
The Two Hour Refresher is $150. You will provide the topics that you would like to review.
You move through the material at your pace. If you establish a fast pace you can move through the material in less than the planned hours. Don’t worry if you are progressing faster than anticipated. There will always be something to learn with any leftover time. Challenge yourself.
You are not obligated to take any set number of hours other than the block of time you purchased.
Computer Lab
A *computer lab classroom setting for groups, organizations and businesses is a very busy eight hours. You can customize the class to fit your current needs. Please call or email for pricing. *This option is available in the Richmond Virginia Metro area.
How Is Payment Made?
Pay online at the website. Arrangements for Purchase Orders should be requested in advance.
Can I Buy More Than One Block Of Time?
Yes, you can but only after you have purchased and completed your first learning block. It would not be ethical or fair to accept payment for multiple learning blocks unless you have experienced the training and feel it is worth your investment. We really are committed to helping you learn. If you are anxious about your investment it will interfere with your learning.
Refunds
You and your personal educator review your goals and objectives before you begin a class. After this review, you purchase your block of time. You can request a refund AFTER your first class and BEFORE your next scheduled class. You are only charged for the first lesson. No explanation is necessary for a refund. Please send an email AND leave a phone message saying that you are requesting a refund. I prefer a satisfied customer who doesn’t have to go through a lot of trouble to get a refund. I will make every effort to accommodate your request.
